When Ordering...

...use the DX and three number code then add the key of the instrument you want. For example, a Duo-Head High Whistle/Flute in key of C would be DX200C.

Terminology

A tenor flute is a flute, a soprano flute is a piccolo.

Tenor is the same as low; soprano is the same as high. They are an octave apart. Both, in this context, cover the keys of F (sometimes), E, E^b, D and C. Check the list by each to see in which keys a particular instrument is available.

Alto, in this context, covers the keys of A and G.

Body Shape Information

At the beginning of 2009 we amended the design of the DX012 and DX021 to streamline production. The interchangeable heads to fit this old style are no longer available.

If the body of your existing whistle/flute bulges to accommodate the head, you have the old style, and the interchangeable heads on this site will not fit the body you have.

If you have the new style, the body is straight and the head bulges to accommodate the head, you can order interchangeable heads to fit.

DX012 and DX102 (whistle): The flute head you need is DX105.

DX021 and DX104 (flute): The whistle head you need is DX106.

Tony Dixon Manufacturing has pleasure in introducing the re-designed and improved Soprano D Whistle with an aluminium body. Back by popular demand, the return of an old friend - now renamed - the DX006 incorporates the internal tuning slide on an aluminium bodied high D.

The ABS head tunes on a solid nickel slide, fixed in the aluminium body, resulting in a solid, bright tone – an exciting addition to the Dixon family of whistles.

Soprano D Whistle with a solid brass body. The ABS head incorporates an internal fixed brass tuning slide, which tunes in the brass body. Due to escalating material costs this instrument is no longer available as a stock item.

DX204 - Tuneable Soprano D Whistle

Tony Dixon Manufacturing has pleasure in introducing the re-designed and improved Soprano D Whistle.

This model has the heavy brass body of its predecessor (DX203) but the advantage of not having to be returned should the head be damaged, as the cupro-nickel (a solid material used in the manufacture of "silver" coinage) tuning slide is incorporated in the body of the whistle.

This instrument has a sleek look, giving smooth and clean lines - an exciting addition to the Dixon family of whistles.
