A little bit about us by way of introduction

Keith - chief hole-maker - approaching his first half million... Tony Dixon

Devon is the home of Tony Dixon who has been making flutes, pipes and whistles for many years. An accomplished player of all three instruments, he doesn't let an instrument out of his workshop that he wouldn't be happy to play himself.

Although he started making instruments from the traditional woods such as box, maple and cherry, Tony has always been ready to experiment. This led to the development of the very popular range of polymer and ABS flutes and whistles, and also aluminium, nickel and brass bodied instruments. A very popular innovation is the ‘Duo’ instrument with one body and two heads! This allows a quick change from flute or piccolo to high or low whistle using the same body.

There are one-piece whistles and flutes, two-piece tuneable whistles and flutes as well as the duo-head whistles and flutes which are also tuneable.

Yasmin Basil

Perhaps you already play the whistle and feel that a flute would add another voice to your repertoire? A glance at the price list shows that cost is not an issue; nor could it be easier to change to a flute head or vice versa.

Our instruments are now played all over the world and have featured on stage in just about every continent. You can hear some sound clips.

If you are here because you are thinking about learning to play the whistle or flute, then you will find our range includes inexpensive yet beautifully toned instruments that are ideal for beginners.

On the other hand, you may be an experienced player and want to try the unique tone and versatility of our instruments.

Terry

There are five main people that contribute to the making of our range of instruments. Tony Dixon, the founder and owner of the business, and Yasmin, his wife, who deals with sales and administration. Keith Pitteway has drilled close on a ‘million’ holes since he started with us nine years ago. We have been joined by Terry Newcome and Basil Adams who do all sorts of finishing, cleaning and packaging.

Don't forget the tutorial page which has what I hope are useful guides to starting playing the whistle.

Shops and similar outlets can look at our trade section for wholesale prices or to locate a distributor covering their area.

We are always prepared to talk to wholesalers and distributors to cover areas of the world where we sell a lot of instruments direct but haven't as yet set up a local distribution system. If you are interested then go to our trade section.
