A little bit about us by way of introduction
Devon is the home of Tony Dixon who has been making flutes, pipes and whistles for many years. An accomplished player of all three instruments, he doesn't let an instrument out of his workshop that he wouldn't be happy to play himself.
He started making instruments from the traditional woods such as box, maple and cherry. Tony, however, has always been ready to experiment. This has led to the very popular range of polymer and ABS flutes and whistles. A more recent and, as it turns out, very popular innovation is the ‘Duo’ instrument with one body and two heads! This allows a quick change from flute or piccolo to high or low whistle using the same body.

There are one-piece whistles and flutes, two-piece tuneable whistles and flutes as well as the duo-head whistles and flutes which are also tuneable.
Perhaps you already play the whistle and feel that a flute would add another voice to your repertoire? A glance at the price list shows that cost is not an issue; nor could it be easier to change to a flute head or vice versa.
Our instruments are now played all over the world and have featured on stage in just about every continent. You can hear some sound clips.
If you are here because you are thinking about learning to play the whistle or flute, then you will find our range includes inexpensive yet beautifully toned instruments that are ideal for beginners.
On the other hand, you may be an experienced player and want to try the unique tone and versatility of our instruments.
There are three main people that contribute to the making of our fine instruments. Tony Dixon, the founder and owner of the business. Keith Pitteway who has drilled close on half a million holes since he started with us, and Sean Dixon who does all sorts of finishing, packaging, cleaning - the small but essential jobs.
Don't forget the tutorial page which has what I hope are useful guides to starting playing the whistle.
